Hello Guest! Welcome to Mrs. Ruscavage's Web Page

Dear Parent/Student:

It continues to be an exciting time to be a student at Matawan Regional High School!  During the past few months the high school administration, faculty and staff have been continuing our cooperative efforts to enhance our curriculum offerings, implement innovative programs, and continue our efforts to build a strong school community.  There are many new programs for this year, including our three new academies. Additionally, we are instituting a new Parent Advisory Group which I cordially invite you to join.  This group will meet monthly with me to discuss how we can work together to increase our students’ academic achievement.  A registration form is available on the Matawan Regional High School website.

Enhancements in our science and mathematics curriculums and integral changes in course sequences have increased the academic rigor of these departments which will result in an improvement in student achievement.  Additionally, our faculty is continually focusing on efforts to enhance student writing skills and to promote critical and creative thinking skills.  Technology continues to be a focus of our student learning objectives as we infuse these skills throughout our curriculum.

William Butler Yeats stated “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.”  With this theme in mind, I encourage all parents to become involved in their child’s education; to assist us in keeping the fire lit.  Our children are our greatest national resource and we need to continually invest in their learning.

Please mark Thursday, September 24th on your calendar as we will have our annual Back to School Night from 7-9 pm.  The staff and I look forward to meeting you and sharing our goals and expectations.

Enclosed in this mailing is a folder which contains items which are designated to either be returned to school or to remain at home.  The folder is labeled as such.  It is our belief that a collaborative effort by parents, students and our high school staff is needed to achieve academic excellence.  It is imperative that all stakeholders in our school community understand and adhere to our school expectations.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to review the enclosed material with your child.

I would like to thank you for your continued support as our administration, faculty and staff remain committed to providing your children with a safe and supportive environment that fosters academic achievement.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

I look forward to meeting our students on September 2nd.  Students will be able to enter the building at 7:10am and they must be in homeroom no later than 7:25am.

Sincerely,

Michele Ruscavage
