• Supplies:

    1. You will need the following items for class each day: charged chromebook, 3-ring binder (only to be used for math class!), loose-leaf paper, graph paper, and pencils (you must be able to erase mistakes). You are also welcomed to have your own dry-erase maker and eraser, however I will also have them in class for shared-use.
    2. A scientific calculator is needed for homework purposes (preferably a TI-34).
    3. You will have access to an online textbook. If you would like a hard-copy, please let me know via email.

    Classwork/Homework:

    1. Classwork/Homework will typically be assigned daily and posted on our google classroom.

*Most of the time, the homework is to complete any unfinished classwork. Occasionally, there will be a separate assignment given for homework that was not started during class.

    1. Homework is due by the start of the class.
    2. No late work will be accepted for credit (Except in the case of an absence, see next page)
    3. You must show your work to receive credit.
    4. No partial credit will be given. You must complete the entire assignment. A wrong answer is better than no answer as long as you show me that you tried!

    Notes and Binders:

    1. Your binder should be neat, organized & complete. Everything must have your name & date.
    2. There will be periodic UNANNOUNCED binder quizzes through each marking period.  These quizzes will assess your participation by checking for complete and accurate notes.
    3. You must copy the notes you miss every time you are not in class. You need to learn the material you missed and failure to do so will lower your binder quiz grades!

    Grading Policy:

    50% TESTS         35% QUIZZES and PROJECTS       15% HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK

    Course Objectives:

By the end of this class, you will be able to:

    • Simplify and solve expressions and equations
    • Understand and analyze functions and proportional relationships
    • Utilize transformations and volume of geometric figures
    • Implement the solving of systems of linear equations into complex and real-life situations.

     Absences:

    1. You MUST copy any notes you missed, as well as makeup missed classwork/homework.
    2. If possible, please email when you are going to be absent. I will do my best to provide you with notes and/or a video for the lesson you missed.
    3. Always check our google classroom page to view any assignments you miss when absent.
    4. When possible, make up missed work on the day you are absent BEFORE returning back to school. However, if needed, you will have one day for each day absent to make up work.
    5. Be prepared to make up any missed tests or quizzes when you return to school.
    6. Unnecessary absences should be avoided to keep from falling behind in class!

    Classroom Rules:

    1. Be on Time. You are expected to be in your assigned seat and start the Do-Now by the time the bell rings. Pencils should be sharpened before the bell rings.
    2. Be Prepared. You need your binder (with paper!) and chromebook (CHARGED!) every day.
    3. Be Respectful. Respect all people and property. Use appropriate language and behavior at all times.  Follow directions the first time they are given.
    4. Raise your Hand and wait to be called on. Do not talk out of turn.
    5. Math work must be done in pencil. Mistakes are okay if we can erase them!
    6. Do not disrupt the learning environment!

    Assessments:

    1. Tests will always be announced. Quizzes may be given unannounced.
    2. Assessments may vary between paper-based and electronic.
    3. A cumulative final will be given at the end of the year.

    Parent/Student Portals:

*All grades will be posted on Genesis in a timely manner.  This includes tests, quizzes, projects, classwork and homework assignments. Please check grades on a regular basis (at least weekly) to stay updated on student progress throughout the year.  Please email me any time that you have any questions or concerns.

    Cell Phones

*During class, cell phones should be put AWAY (unseen and unheard).  If a student is found using their cell phone, it will be taken away, as per the MAMS Code of Conduct.
