Matawan 8...Long Branch 2The girls soccer team opened the 2016 season by defeating the Green Wave of Long Branch 8-2. Jessica Labinger and Lyndsey McCabe each had two goals. Colleen Lillis played a strong game and collected a goal along with two assists. Morgan Lapinski, Brooke Santos, and Bella Foley each found the back of the net. Sophia Garofalo and Delaney Scheuing earned their first MAMS assists. Megan Stuart and Payton Auriemma we both outstanding in goal.Matawan 2...Neptune 1The girls soccer team improved to 2 and 0 as Colleen Lillis and Bella Foley each scored their second goals of the season. Sophia Garofalo and Maddie Weidner collected assists as Caitlin Deahl and Payton Auriemma held Neptune to a single goal.Holmdel 3...Matawan 0The Huskies dropped a 3-0 decision to a talented Holmdel team. They look to regroup today vs. Thorne.Thorne 3...Matawan 0The Huskies are going through some growing pains as they drop their second consecutive 3-0 loss. Megan Stuart was fearless in goal and Kailee Bodin played a great game highlighted by two goals in extra time.Matawan 2...Colts Neck 0The Lady Huskies broke a scoreless tie halfway through the 2nd half as Gabi Medel found the upper corner of the net off a brilliant feed from Morgan Lapinski. Lapinski then sent a through ball to Jessica Labinger, who added a second goal for some much needed insurance as Matawan defeated Colts Neck 2-0. Megan Stuart earned her first career MAMS shutout and was aided by outstanding defensive work by Kailee Bodin, Maddie Weidner, Sierra Hill, Miranda Matlick, Eva Marsh, Caitlin Deahl, Ava Gallo, and Payton Auriemma. Gabby Collins scored a goal in extra time and worked aggressively through the 10 minute period.Bayshore 2...Matawan 1The Huskies dropped their third match of the season as they lost to Bayshore 2-1. Shannon Reiser scored her first career MAMS goal of a nice give and go with Sofia Garofalo, who collected her third assist of the season. After tying the game and possessing the ball for much of the second half, Bayshore was able to generate a few odd man rushes and they found the back of the net with just under 5 minutes to play. Payton Auriemma, Gabi Medel, and Jessica Labinger played strong games in the loss.Thompson 6...Matawan 0Thompson caused headaches for Matawan all game as they dominated their way to a 6-0 victoryMatawan 3...Hazlet 1Sofia Garofalo scored her first two MAMS career goals and Jessica Labinger scored her team-leading 4th goal of the season as the Huskies ended their two game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Hazlet. Morgan Lapinski solidified the defense as she returned to sweeper and Megan Stuart was great in goal and collected an assist on Garofalo's first goal. Caitlin Deahl scored a goal in extra time off an assist by Gabby Collins.Matawan 2...Ocean 0The Lady Huskies played a complete game as they shut out perennial powerhouse Ocean Township 2-0. The Huskies played with great poise and patience as the controlled play and possessed the ball for most of the 60 minutes. Bella Foley notched her 3rd goal of the season as she found the back of the net from inside the 18. Sofia Garofalo played a nice cross from the corner to Jessica Labinger who one-timed it to the left side of the net for some insurance. Megan Stuart earned her second shutout of the season. Matawan's midfield and forwards were stellar and outstanding contributions were made by: Delaney Scheuing, Shannon Reiser, Colleen Lillis, Lyndsey McCabe, Melina Roman, Eva Marsh and Gabi Medel.Holmdel 6...Matawan 1The Huskies were unable to solve the Hornets of Holmdel this season as they drop the season series after a 6-1 defeat. Jessica Labinger scored the lone goal for Matawan.
