    Jimmy Nichols limited the Bucs to 1 run and 2 hits over 4 innings to lead the Huskies to a 5-4 Opening Day victory. Danny Hirujo doubled home a run in the 1st and Griffin Falco forced home another. Chris Dietrich, who singled and drove in a run, bridged the gap to Christian Rivera as the duo recorded the last 7 outs and preserved the win for Nichols.
    Matawan 12...Holmdel 0
    Danny Hirujo did it with the bat and stick as he pitched 5 innings of shut out ball and also went 2 for 3 at the dish. Matt Silva and RJ Clifton closed out the game without allowing a Holmdel run. Ben Palumbo, Chris Gendi, and Jimmy Nichols each had two hits while Christian Rodriguez, Devin Williams, Mathew Palomo and Mark DiPalma notched singles in the rout. 
     SJV 10...Matawan 0
    The Lancers blanked the Huskies 10-0 to hand them their first loss.  
    Matawan 6...RFH 3
    Jay Kalieta earned his first JV win combined with solid relief pitching from RJ Clifton and Ryan Anderson as the Huskies defeated the Bulldogs of Rumson 6-3. Jimmy Nichols and Ben Porricelli eached doubled to lead the offense. Griffin Falco executed a squeeze for the Huskies' sixth run and Devin Williams had 3 stolen bases and 2 runs. 
    Matawan 8...Long Branch 7
    Griffin Falco's second double of the game walked-off Christian Rivera, whose double had just tied the game, and gave the Huskies the 8-7 victory. Jay Kalieta, Ben Porricelli, and Devin Williams each collected hits. Christian Rivera earned the win and Chris Dietrich threw 3+ innings of no-run relief to keep Matawan within striking distance going into the 7th. 
    Matawan 18...Lakewood 0
     Matawan improved to 5-1 on the season with a 18-0 drubbing of the Piners. Chris Gendi and Ben Porricelli each had two hits while Chris Dietrich, Jimmy Nichols, Vinny Guarino, Mathew Palomo and Mark DiPalma each had a hit. Gendi struck out 7 in three innings and Christian Rivera closed out the win with 5 Ks in the final two innings. 
    Raritan 10...Matawan 1
    The Huskies were unable to overcome their own miscues as they committed 10 errors leading to 7 unearned runs. Zach Grillo and Nick Trapani each had two hits for Matawan. 
    Red Bank Regional 10...Matawan 4
     Matawan was never able to recover from a three-run deficit in the first as they fell to 5 and 3 on the season. Devin Williams had two of the Huskies' 5 hits with Ben Palumbo, Griffin Falco and Ben Porricelli collecting the others. Mathew Palomo walked twice and Christian Rodriguez and Zack Grillo each brought home runs with RBI sacrifice flies. Ryan Anderson pitched solid in relief. The Huskies look to regroup next week vs. Shore Regional.
    The Matawan Huskies rallied behind RJ Clifton's first JV win and Chris Dietrich's walk off single as they defeated the Hornets 8-7. Devin Williams, Christian Rivera, Jay Kalieta, Griffin Falco, and Dietrich each collected hits for the Huskies. 
    SJV 4...MATAWAN 3
    The Huskies had strong pitching efforts from Jimmy Nichols and Chris Dietrich but the defense was unable to hold their end as 5 miscues eventually were too costly for Matawan to overcome. Chris Gendi had two of the Huskies' 4 hits while Dietrich and Nichols added one.
    MATAWAN 4...RFH 1
    Nick Trapani was stellar through 6 innings with 12 K's and Jay Kalieta finished off Trapani's gem as the Huskies improved to 7-4 on the season. Kalieta was the catalyst offensively going 3-3 with 3 runs and a SB. Ben Porricelli was 2-3 with an RBI, Griffin Falco had a hit and RBI, and Christian Rivera added a hit and RBI as well. Matawan looks to parlay this performance vs. Shore Regional at home today.
    SHORE 11...MATAWAN 1
    The JV baseball team hit a bump in the road as they were defeated in this lopsided affair. Ben Palumbo had two of Matawan's three hits with Jimmy Nichols getting the other. Ryan Anderson took the loss on the mound. 
    Matawan battled back from a 8-2 hole through solid relief pitching by Matt Silva to come within a run, but a late rally was not enough as the Huskies made their 21st out with the bases loaded to drop to 7-6 on the season. Silva had a nice offensive day going 2-2 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI's. Jimmy Nichols and Griffin Falco had a 2 hits including a double and RBI. Chris Dietrich, Nick Trapani, and Zach Grillo each recorded two hits on the day. 
    Matawan dropped a first round SCT JV Tournament game to TRN yesterday 3-0. Matawan was unable to muster anything offensively as Chris Gendi and Ben Palumbo recorded the only two hits. Danny Hirujo pitched 4 strong innings in the loss.
    Jimmy Nichols fired a 2-hitter 5-inning complete game with 9 Ks as the JV Huskies climbed above .500 to finish their season at 8-7. Ben Palumbo and Danny Hirujo had a hit and RBI. Christian Rodriguez plated home a run with a sacrifice fly. Mathew Palomo was on base all three times via 2BB and HBP. Mark DiPalma made some solid plays in the field and Devin Williams had 2 stolen bases and 2 runs. Great job by the JV team this year!
