What have our First Graders been up to?
We have been reviewing digraphs!
Digraphs are two consonants that make one sound.
We have also been focusing on short vowel word families: -at, -an, -am, -et, -en, -ed, -op, -ot
Please remember to have your child practice reading his or her Review and New Concept Word lists in their Orton-Gillingham notebooks to build fluency and automaticity. The lists are filled with words with digraphs and short vowel word families!
Don't forget to practice the cards on the Word Family Rings and Trick Word Rings! These cards are sent home in the folder everyday. Look for new words/word families being added at least once a week.
I am proud of the hard work our first grade smarty pants students are doing! I appreciate how responsible you and your child are in making sure the book baggies return to school everyday. Thank you! :)
