Welcome, parents and students, to 6th grade Social Studies.  I look forward to getting to know all of you, but now I would like to take the time to allow you to get to know me.

This is my sixth year teaching at Matawan Aberdeen Middle School. I have co-taught with many colleagues in my department as well as POR (pull out resource) classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies. I also co-wrote the MAMS Social Studies curriculum with Mr. Bloss and Mr. Miller. This year I am teaching 6th ICR (in class support) with Mr. Tarazzi and Ms. Posyton as well as POR for 6th grade. 6th grade Social Studies covers Ancient Civilizations.

I grew up in Middletown, NJ and am quite familiar with the Matawan Aberdeen community. My career path did not originally include teaching. I studied Arts Administration, Art History, and Italian at Wagner College on Staten Island. I had the opportunity to study abroad twice in Italy, and worked in New York City for many years as a project manager and gallery administrator. In 2014, I decided to make a switch to teaching; something I have always wanted to do. I substitute taught during the day while attending night classes at Georgian Court University and finally found my home within the Matawan Aberdeen school district. In 2021, I completed my masters degree in Curriculum Development and Instruction from Western Governors University.

On a personal note, I enjoy traveling (especially to historical locations), working out, dancing, going to the beach, reading, and spending time with my boyfriend, family, and friends. I also love to bake and own a little side business called Sweet Bri Cookies where I design and create custom cookies for clients. I even had the pleasure of making custom cookies for a MAMS graduate!

My teaching philosophy includes encouraging creativity and higher level thinking to increase student growth and performance.

I hope that I get to know all of you, both students and parents, quite well. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, my contact information is located on the welcome page of this website.  I look forward to an excellent and prosperous school year!

    Sincerely,
