• Matawan 7...Thorne 3

    The Huskies responded to an early 2 goal deficit with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half to secure their first victory of the season with a 7-3 win. Mya King led the scoring with two goals and two assists. Sophia Garofalo also scored twice as Shannon Reiser scored a goal and notched two assists. Ava Gallo and Gianna D'Angelo scored their first MAMS goals and Nina Sassa and Caitlin Deahl added assists to close out the scoring. 


    Matawan 3...Ocean 2 (OT)

    The Huskies again rallied from a deficit to tie the game on a Sophia Garofalo goal off an Eva Marsh corner. Mya King then scored to give Matawan a lead until the last 5 minutes when Ocean tied it off a crossbar - post combo. With the Huskies down a player in the 7v7 overtime session, Shannon Reiser drew a foul in the box and King calmly deposited the ball in the right corner on the ensuing PK to give Matawan the "golden goal" victory. The Huskies speedy defensive core of Joie Higgins, Sierra Hill, Tarie and Eva Marsh battled Ocean's constant long-ball threats all afternoon and Peyton Auriemma was again solid in goal. Gianna D'Angelo and Shannon Reiser had noticeably strong efforts on both sides of the ball. 


    Matawan 5...Colts Neck 1

    The Huskies improved to 3 and 0 on the season with a 5 to 1 victory over Colts Neck on Friday. Kaylah Varrastro got Matawan on the board with her first career MAMS goal off a cross from Nina Sassa. Mya King added her 5th goal of the season after settling a feed from Gianna D'Angelo - who added to the lead with her 2nd and 3rd goals of the season. Alexa Scarpinato got on the scoreboard with an assist on D'Anglelo's second goal. Shannon Reiser closed out the scoring after a deflection on a corner found it's way to the back of the net. She also added an assist in the game. Peyton Auriemma notched her 3rd win in the season.


    Matawan 7...Bayshore 2

    Mya King scored 4 goals and Shannon Reiser dished out 4 assists as the Huskies improved to 4 and 0 with a 7 to 2 victory over Bayshore Monday. Eva Marsh and Nina Sassa scored their first goals of the season and Sierra Hill and Rylie Benko notched their first assists. Andee Dircks recorded her first career MAMS win. 


    Thompson 5...Matawan 3

    The Huskies squandered a three goal lead as Thompson shocked the Huskies with 5 unanswered goals as Matawan had their 16 game winning streak halted. 15 minutes into the highly contested battle, Sophia Garofalo found the back of the net with Shannon Reiser notching the assist. Mya King added her team leading 10th and 11th goals to give the Huskies a nice cushion. However, Thompson got on the board late in the first half to make it 3-1, then opened the second half with a fury as they scored 3 goals in the first 7 minutes and the Huskies were never able to recover. Matawan looks to regroup on Friday against Hazlet.


    Matawan 4...Hazlet 0

    Peyton Auriemma made a crucial stop on a penalty kick on route to her first career MAMS shutout in leading the Huskies back into the win column with a 4-0 victory over Hazlet. Nina Sassa drove home a team leading 9th assist from Shannon Reiser to give Matawan a lead just 2 minutes into the game. Sophia Garofalo scored her 5th goal and assisted twice on Mya King's team-leading 12th and 13th goals leading the Huskies to their 5th win on the season. Ava Gallo, Tarie Marsh, Eva Marsh and Gianna D'Angelo played strong defensive games and Caitlin Deahl and Courtney Coco controlled the midfield in the victory.


    Ocean 4...Matawan 2

    The Huskies squandered leads of 1-0 and 2-1 to eventually lose 4-2 and split the season series with Ocean. Gianna D'Angelo scored her 4th goal of the season off a nice cross by Kaylah Verrastro and Mya King tallied her 14th goal with an assist to Eva Marsh who made a great play carrying the ball in space and connecting with King on the goal. The Huskies look to regroup with a home and home series with Holmdel up next. 


    Matawan 6...Holmdel 2

    Mya King notched the hat trick along with two assists and Shannon Reiser had two goals of her own with an assist as well as the Huskies turned a 1-1 halftime game into a lopsided 6-2 win. Kayla Verrastro scored her 3rd goal of the season and Caitlin Deahl added her second assist of the season while having a strong game in the midfield. Sophia Garofalo solidified the defense and utilized a few open space runs to create scoring opportunities while dishing out two assists. Natalie Queenan played a solid outside back position and Tarie Marsh, Eva Marsh, and Ava Gallo contributed to the defensive effort. Peyton Auriemma was great in goal again.


    Matawan 4...Holmdel 1

    The Huskies swept the season series from Holmdel for the second straight year as they defeated the Hornets 4-1 yesterday. Sophia Garofalo, Mya King, and Kaylah Verrastro each had a goal and an assist. Gianna D'Angelo added a goal of her own. Andee Dircks secured the victory with a solid game in goal. 


    Matawan 6...Long Branch 1

    Mya King recorded a hat trick and reset the school record for goals in a season with 21 as Matawan downed the Green Wave of Long Branch 6-1 to improve to 8 and 2 on the season. Courtney Coco, Natalie Queenan, and Rylie Benko notched their first goals of the season as Gianna D'Angelo, Tarie Marsh, and Ella Frye added assists. Andee Dircks shut out LB in the first half giving way to Queenan between the pipes for the second half.


    Matawan 6...Neptune 2

    Shannon Reiser scored twice and and her two assists set the school record at 12 as the Huskies closed out their 2018 season by defeating Neptune 6-2. Mya King added two goals to her record setting season of 23 as well as notching an assist. Caitlin Deahl found the back of the net for her first goal this season. Sophia Garofalo chipped in with a goal and assist and Gianna D'Angelo collected two assists of her own in this team effort. As the girls move onto high school, the contributions of our 8th graders over the last three years will not be forgotten. Best of luck to our 8th grade class of Caitlin Deahl, Ava Gallo, Eva Marsh, Shannon Reiser, Sophia Garofalo, Courtney Coco, Peyton Auriemma, Joie Higgins, and Sierra Hill.
