•      My name is Kevin Burns and I will be teaching Algebra 2 Honors for the 2020-2021 school year. I attended high school here at Matawan Regional and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to teach in this community since the fall of 2012. After high school, I pursued a post-secondary education at The College of New Jersey. I left TCNJ with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and also acquired my teaching certification for grades 6-12.
I began my teaching career shortly after graduating in the May of 2012 at Crossroads South Middle School in South Brunswick. As a long term substitute, I was able to teach Algebra 1 and Geometry to 7th and 8th grade students. I am now about to begin my ninth year at Matawan Regional. During my short career, I have mostly worked with freshman in the subjects of Algebra 1 and Algebra 2, but I've also had several opportunities to work with 10-12 graders in the subject of AP Calculus AB.
After five years of teaching, I decided to continue my own education at Montclair State University where I completed my masters in educational leadership. It was a long and intense fourteen months, but the experience that I gained in the field of education has been invaluable.
Outside of the classroom, I coach freshman boys soccer and boys winter track. I always encourage students to attend these events and join my teams so please feel free to reach out to me. I also like to see what my students are involved in outside the classroom. Please feel free to let me know about games, concerts, competitions, etc. I look forward to getting to know all of my new students and I'm excited for a new year!
