NEPTUNE (H) 9/19
The Huskies opened up their 2023 season with a nice W over Neptune. The first half provided a lot of opportunities for the Huskies, but they were unable to put any in the back of the net. The defense was solid in this game. Whinna and Stumpf would not allow anything behind them. The Huskies came out strong in the second half. Gleason had a nice run in the box and was fouled. Penalty kick! Gleason remained composed and ripped one through the upper right part of the net. The Huskies were able to hold on to a 1-0 victory. Janiszewski recorded his first clean sheet of the season. The Huskies look to keep the momentum going at home against Holmdel on Friday.
HOLMDEL (H) 9/22
Matawan came out of the gates slow in this one. The Huskies gave up two early in the half, but were able to score on one from Youseff with a nice assist from Gleason. The score was 3-1 at the half. Holmdel completely dominated the second half not allowing Matawan to keep possession of the ball for very long. Holmdel put two more in the back of the net with a final score of 5-1, Holmde on top.
BAYSHORE (A) 9/26
Bayshore started the scoring off quickly with a goal in the first few minutes. Matawan did not have much to say after that. Bayshore kept the goals coming. Sierra had a nice corner to Gleason with the header. Matawan loses their second straight 6-1 to fall to 1-0-2.
HAZLET (A) 10/3
This game was an exciting one! The Huskies started off strong by going up by a few goals. The Hurricanes fired back, tying it up at the half. The Hurricanes scored quickly in the beginning of the second half, but the Huskies did not waver. They scored 2 unanswered goals to secure the 5-4 win. Freddie Ronda scored 2 while Sam Youssef had the hat trick with 3 goals. Mason Reitman, Ryan Lasko and Ed Gleason came in with the assists. Way to go Huskies! Matawan goes to 2-0-2 on the season.
THOMPSON (H) 10/6
This was a tough one for Matawan. The first half was close, with the Huskies going down 3-1. Thompson came out strong in the second half and pulled away winning 5-1. The Huskies fall to 2-0-3 on the season. The next game will be on 10/10 against Thorne.
THORNE (A) 10/10
The Huskies had this one tied at the half 2-2. They could not put anything together in the second half, losing a close one 4-2. Ritchie put a header through the net while Haynes had a nice follow up. Gleason and Sierra on the assists. Matawan drops 2 in a row.
LONG BRANCH (H) 10/12
The Huskies fought strongly, but could not put together much offense in this one. They fell 4-1 to Long Branch.
OCEAN (A) 10/16
Matawan was able to put a few in the back of the net against Ocean, but ultimately came up short. They allowed too many goals and couldn't win this one. Ronda, Ritchie, and Haynes were able to score against Ocean
Cedar (A) 10/23
This was a close one. Huskies came out strong and scored a goal off a header from Brody Smith. In the second half, Cedar was able to put two quick ones in the back of the net. Anthony Ciampi then put a corner in to tie the game up. The Huskies had some opportunities, but could not capitalize. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
