    Dear Parents:

     

    My name is Leah Layton and I will be your child’s In-Class Resource Language Arts teacher for the 2023-2024 school year.  I would like to take this opportunity to share with you my background and philosophy of education. 

     

    I have been a teacher at the Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School for twenty-nine years.  Prior to that, I taught elementary school for two years.  I enjoyed teaching elementary school, but after a year at Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School I realized that my heart belonged to this age group.  I enjoy teaching middle school, because I feel that I am helping to mold them into productive young adults.

     

    Aside from my job as a wife and mother, teaching is the most important job to me.  My mission is to instill a positive attitude and a feeling of self worth in the students I teach.  It is also my mission to treat my students as individuals.  Another aspect of my mission is to teach students that learning is a lifelong process.

     

    My teaching philosophy is to provide a positive and successful learning environment so your child can reach his or her full potential.
