• Welcome to Mrs. Sloan's Class!

    Michelle Sloan
Welcome to Matawan Regional High School, I am Mrs. Sloan, known by my students as Ms. Michelle.  I teach in Room 609 and specialize in autism and language based instruction.  I have been working in MARSD since  2011.  I was the autism teacher at Lloyd Road for 6 years prior to moving to the high school in 2017.  This is my 16th year working with students on the autism spectrum.  Prior to moving to New Jersey, I worked as a 4th and 5th grade teacher specializing in Math and Science.   I love working with children because it is both challenging and rewarding.  Every one of my students is special and unique and learns in a different way.  In our classroom we apply the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to provide individualized instruction and meet the needs of every student.  At the high school we focus on teaching life skills and community skills to prepare students for their future. This year will be like no other as we work our way as a class together through this global pandemic.  Safety and technology will be an added emphasis as we resume in person instruction this year and prepare for the possibility of virtual instruction.
I have a team of assistants who do an amazing job with helping me teach my students everyday!
