Mandi Lyttle M.S.Ed
Contact: alyttle@marsd.org | (732) 705-5518My name is Mandi Lyttle, and I am so excited to start the year again at Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School as the 8th grade counselor. I have been working here at MAMS since 2020, alongside our amazing counseling team! Before coming to MAMS, I was a high school English teacher and head Varsity swim coach at Howell High School. I obtained a Bachelors degree in English and Secondary Education from Salisbury University in 2013. In 2017, I enrolled in the Educational Counseling Masters program at Monmouth University, and earned my School Counseling certificate in the state of New Jersey. I came to Matawan with 7 years of experience working in the K-12 educational setting, and I am thrilled to be making my home here with the Huskies.
Outside of school, I am an avid beach-goer, reader, swimmer and runner. I have twin boys, who also love the beach! I also have a cat named Luna, who is my best buddy. My favorite sports team is the NJ Devils, and I love Bruce Springsteen!
As a counselor, I am passionate about student growth, exploration, and advocacy. I believe that the best way for students to develop a positive self-concept is to take risks and learn to trust themselves, and it is my job to provide them with the tools and support necessary to succeed in that endeavor. Throughout the year, I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups, meeting with parents, and collaborating with teachers and staff to help support the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students.
Please feel free to take a look at the resources on my webpage to learn more about how I can be of assistance to you or your student. I am committed to assisting students in cultivating a positive image of themselves as learners, friends, explorers, and individuals, so that they can be more successful in high school and beyond. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any additional questions.
