Board of Education policies are reviewed and revised regularly based on changes in the law, state regulations, and district practices. These policies are first discussed in committee, then presented to the Board as a whole and to the public twice before being voted on for approval. The protocol is that there is a first “reading,” wherein revisions arising from the discussion may be made. After a second reading, a vote is taken and the policy becomes part of the governing principles of the district.
