• Game 1 - Matawan 11   SJV 9
    The Huskies got off on a good foot to start the year beating rival SJV.  Shawn Johnson walked 3 times and scored 3 times and also pirched the team to victory.  It got too close for comfort in the bottom of the 7th, but Johnson kept his cool and picked off the runner at first to end the game.  Timmy Birch was the offensive star with 2 hit and 4 RBI in the 6th and 7th innings.
    Game 2 - Raritan 7  Matawan 5-
    The Huskies slept walked their way through this game missing several key opportunities to score runs while giving up 7 walks, 3 wild pitches, 3 passed balls, and 2 errors.  Matawan also ran their way out of 3 innings.  Matt Kelleman had a double and a triple and Shawn Johnson had 2 RBI.
    Game 3 - RBC 10   Matawan 0
    Not a good day for the doggies.
    Game 4   Matawan 9  Holmdel 8
    Matawan built a lead and hung on for the victory on a windy day by the parkway in Holmdel.  Justin Harnett had 2 singles, a triple, an RBI, and the save.  Though Dan Incle was the offensive star with 2 singles, a HOME RUN, and 3 RBI.  Alex Mirabal reached base safely 5 times scoring 2 runs and played a good defensive game.
    GAME 5 - MATAWAN 6   Rumson 5
    Kenny Brown saved the day for the Huskies, driving in Matt Jamandron in the bottom of the 7th for a walk off win.  Brown had 3 hits, an RBI, and a run scored.  Newcomer Brian Leibell helped the cause right away with a clutch, 2 OUT, game tying RBI single in the 6th. A host of Huskies contributed on the mound on this day - Dan Incle started - Raekwon Wilkes threw 2 scoreless striking out 4 - James Monro a scoreless 5th - and Justin Harnett pitched the 6th and 7th for the win.  It was a total team effort.
    GAME 6 - SHORE 7   MATAWAN  6
    On a cold and windy day by the water at Shore Regional HS, the Huskies allowed errors to become a factor for the first time this season.  The Huskies made 6 blunders in the field.  BUT, the Husky spirit was there as Matawan battled back within 1 with a 4 run 6th inning led by Alex Mirabal who had a hit, an RBI, scred 2 runs and piched rather well in relief.  Shore saved the game with 3 outstanding defensive plays in the top of the 7th to hold Matawan at bay.
    Matawan fought from hehind ALL AFTERNOON.  The Huskies were behind 4- 0 and fought back to 7-6 deficit then 8-6.   After an exciting top of the sixth inning where the Huskies took a 9 to 8 lead only to see it vanish in the bottom of the 6th down 12-9.  In the top of the 7th the Huskies went to work scoring 4 runs WITH 2 OUTS !!!!! Dan Incle had 3 hits, 3 RBI, and scored 4 runs.  Shawn Johnson had 4 hits and 4 RBI and Matt Kelleman missed a sign- STOLE SECOND- which became pivotal as he was driven home representing the winning run.  GREAT JOB
